Wordle Solver
Stuck on a stubborn grid? Feed the solver your green, yellow and grey letters and it will show you every 5-letter word that can still be the answer — repeated letters handled correctly.
⚡ Searches run entirely in your browser — the word list loads once and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
How to use the solver
Copy your greens
Look at your Wordle board. Every letter shown in green is confirmed — type it into the green box in the same position. These letters anchor everything else.
Add the yellows
Yellow letters are in the word but not where you tried them. Enter each yellow in the position you guessed it — the solver will keep the letter but ban it from that spot.
List the greys
Type every grey letter into the grey field. The solver removes any word containing them — unless the same letter is already confirmed green or yellow, in which case the confirmed clue wins.
A quick worked example
You opened with CRANE. The board says: C grey, R yellow, A green, N grey, E grey. So you enter A in green position 3, R in yellow position 2 (that's where you guessed it), and cne as grey letters. The solver now keeps only words shaped __A__ that contain an R somewhere other than position 2, with no C, N or E — usually a short, very guessable list. One strong follow-up guess is often all that's left between you and the answer.

Frequently asked questions
How does this Wordle solver work?
Copy the colours from your Wordle board into the matching rows: confirmed letters in the green boxes, letters that are in the word but in the wrong place in the yellow boxes, and ruled-out letters in the grey field. The solver checks every 5-letter word in WordScout's list and keeps only the words that fit all three sets of clues.
How do I enter green, yellow and grey letters?
Green letters go in the exact position where Wordle showed them green — if the third letter is R, put R in the third green box. Yellow letters go in the position where you guessed them, because the solver also learns the letter is NOT in that spot. Grey letters are typed as a simple list, for example cne for C, N and E.
What happens when a letter is both yellow and grey?
That means the answer contains the letter, but fewer times than you guessed it. The solver always trusts the green and yellow clues over the grey ones, so a letter you've confirmed is never ruled out — it just can't appear more times than your confirmed clues require.
Is using a Wordle solver cheating?
That's your call. Many players use a solver when they're stuck on guess five, for practice games, or to learn new words afterwards. The solver only lists words that fit your clues — choosing between them is still up to you.
Is this Wordle solver free?
Yes, completely free, with no account or sign-up. The word list loads once and every search runs in your browser, so it's instant and nothing you type is sent anywhere.
Which word list does the solver check?
The 5-letter words inside WordScout's large English list of more than 370,000 words. The list is generous, so an occasional uncommon word may appear that Wordle itself wouldn't pick as an answer — treat the results as strong candidates, not gospel.
